Shibumi’s Favourite Summer Wedding Outfits
It’s that time of year again… weddings are happening seemingly every weekend and it’s the perfect time to plan your outfits, especially if you’re going to be Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom.
Our cashmere and silk coats and jackets work so well for more traditional wedding outfits, or if you’re after something a little bit different! Even better, they all look fabulous when worn more casually too so they can be worn again and again…we are believers in getting the most wear out of a piece as possible. Besides, these coats are too beautiful to only be worn for special occasions, they need to be seen!
Our Favourite Outfits with Coats…
For the perfect classic, sophisticated and elegant Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom outfit, we love our Lyra Coat in Electric Navy cashmere. This fabric drapes beautifully and is so comfortable! Wear it with our Hepburn Dress in Moonstone, a navy hat, navy shoes and a silvery bag to tie the whole outfit together.
For a wedding in the height of Summer, this turquoise outfit is just amazing! Our Nehru Coat in Pale Cyan cashmere is lightweight and breathable enough to be worn even on a really hot day. Worn with our Hepburn Dress in Paradise, you’ll feel smart and fun! The Pale Cyan coat has a soft pink sheen to it, so style with soft nude coloured accessories to compliment the gorgeousness of the fabric.
This coat also looks fabulous worn with white jeans for a Summer lunch!
For the non-traditional Mother of the Bride, this lovely bright outfit is just perfect! Wear our Lyra Coat in Vivid embroidered silk with our Hepburn Dress in Hot Pink. You’ll feel amazing and these are such happy colours! Wear with bright pink accessories, you could also go for French blue accessories if you wanted to tone it down slightly, but we say go for it!
This outfit is also great for the races… Ascot fans, we’re looking at you!
Our Favourite Outfits with Jackets…
For the most stunning soft, pretty Summer Mother of the Bride outfit, we love the Anya Jacket in Rococo Pink cashmere with our Vera Dress in Mint Ice. Complete the outfit with a soft mint hat, pale pink bag and shoes. This outfit is effortless and beautiful. This jacket is great to wear with jeans too!
This vision in blush is just divine! Wear our Vera Dress in Blush with the Juna Jacket in Pink Shalimar embroidered silk with matching soft blush accessories to feel beautifully feminine and sophisticated. For the evening you could also take the jacket off and wear the dress with our Cashmere Shawl in Eggshell/ Apricot Moon for a more relaxed look.
Yes, red can work for a Summer wedding! We usually associate red with Autumn and Winter but this jacket works all year round depending on what you wear it with! Then, wear again for your Winter wedding with the Hepburn Dress in Midnight Blue!
Our Favourite Outfits with trousers…
We know that not everyone likes wearing dresses, and these days it is totally acceptable to wear smart trousers as part of your Mother of the Bride outfit. Here we have styled our Nehru Coat in Narnia embroidered silk with some smart cream trousers, a pale gold cami-top and gold accessories. This super smart outfit really doesn’t need a hat and will have you feeling confident and glamourous.
For a little twist on trousers, choose to wear a silk jumpsuit instead…wear this soft peach jumpsuit with our Nina Blazer in Moss Rose cashmere and contrast with navy accessories. This is really smart and would work for a wedding guest or for Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom.
This is a really fun, yet sophisticated outfit which really plays on the idea of colour blocking. For underneath choose pale cream or ivory silk trousers and camisole, with matching shoes. For the top half wear our Grace Coat in Wild Orchid raw silk, with a big hat and matching clutch bag. This is another outfit that would also look fabulous at the races. This coat can be worn all year round and looks really sleek with black jeans and boots for the Winter!
And finally…we had to do one for the Bride herself!
We know that not every Bride wants to wear the traditional white dress and veil! To feel like an absolute Goddess, we can highly recommend our Devi Coat in Deep Raspberry cashmere. Wear it with a simple champagne coloured silk slip dress, a gorgeous bunch of peonies and of course sparkly Jimmy Choos!
